The questions we actually get asked, with straight answers.
Before you buy
Do I need WooCommerce?
No. Our plugin plugs straight into the Houzez checkout. No webshop, no subscription extensions, no extra yearly fees for things you did not want.
Do I need a developer?
No. A wizard walks you through the setup and you will not see a line of code.
Will it break when Houzez updates?
No. We work entirely through the hooks Houzez already provides, and we never touch your theme files. A theme update cannot break your payments, because there is nothing of ours in your theme to break.
Do you take a cut of my payments?
No. Not a cent. Our plugin is a yearly license and that is the whole cost from our side, whether you process ten payments or ten thousand.
The money goes from your customer to Mollie to your bank account. We never touch it and we never see it.
How many websites can I use it on?
One with Single Site, three with Business, twenty-five with Agency.
Does a staging site count as one?
Yes. If you activate the key on staging and again on live, that is two activations. Deactivate the staging site when you are done and you get the slot back.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
Fourteen days. If it is not right for you, tell us and we refund you. No forms and no questions.
About Mollie
Is Mollie free?
There is no monthly fee and no setup fee. You pay a small fee per successful transaction and nothing else. An empty month costs you nothing.
The exact rates depend on the payment method and your country. Mollie publishes them clearly.
Do I need Mollie to approve my account?
Yes, before you can take real money. It usually takes a day or two.
You do not have to wait for it, though. Install the plugin, connect it with your test key, and check that everything works while they are reviewing you.
How many payment methods do you support?
Thirty. Twelve of them can carry a subscription, and eighteen are one-time only. The plugin labels each one, so you never have to remember which is which.
Setting up
I set everything up and Mollie does not appear at my checkout.
Almost certainly one of two things.
Enable Paid Submission is still set to No. This is Houzez’s master switch, under Theme Options, then Membership, and it is off when Houzez is installed. Until you change it, your website charges nobody for anything, so there is no checkout for Mollie to appear on.
Or your gateway type is set to WooCommerce. Under Theme Options, then Payment Gateways, it has to say Houzez Custom Gateways.
My checkout shows two or three payment blocks.
Houzez’s own gateways are still switched on. Go to Theme Options, then Payment Gateways, and switch off Stripe, PayPal and Wire Transfer.
Do I have to fill in the Stripe fields on my packages?
No. Leave Package Stripe id and Stripe Tax ID completely empty. Mollie does not use them.
Stripe makes you create a plan in advance and paste its ID in. Mollie creates the subscription per customer, on the spot, with nothing to look up. Empty is correct, and nothing is missing.
My customer sees “Access denied” when they try to register.
Two settings are off. Tick Anyone can register under Settings, then General in WordPress. And switch on Register under Theme Options, then Login & Register.
Houzez describes that second one as “Display the register in the header”, which makes it sound cosmetic. It is not. It blocks registration entirely.
Subscriptions
My subscriptions are not renewing.
Nine times out of ten: SEPA Direct Debit is not switched on in your Mollie account.
Even when your customer paid the first time with iDEAL, the renewals are collected by direct debit. iDEAL sets up the mandate and then steps aside. Without SEPA Direct Debit enabled at Mollie, the mandate cannot be charged, and nothing is collected.
Go to your Mollie dashboard, then Settings, then Payment methods, and switch it on. You do not have to show it at your checkout.
Can I sell one-time packages and subscriptions at the same time?
Yes. It is a setting on each package, in the Mollie Settings block, so a one-off listing package can sit happily next to a monthly agency subscription.
What happens when a renewal fails?
Your customer keeps their access for a grace period, which is three days by default, while Mollie retries automatically. Most failures are a temporarily empty account, and the retry works.
If nothing succeeds by the end of the grace period, access ends and the subscription is cancelled so no further attempts are made.
What happens when a customer’s access expires?
Their properties are hidden from your public website. They are not deleted, and the customer can still see them in their own dashboard.
That is deliberate. If we deleted twenty listings with all their photographs, nobody would ever come back, because starting again is too much work. Because they are only hidden, coming back is one payment and everything reappears.
Money
How do refunds work?
From the Transactions tab, in a few clicks. Full or partial.
You also choose what happens besides the money: unpublish the property, remove the featured status, cancel the subscription, email the customer.
That last group matters. Refunding an unhappy subscriber without cancelling their subscription means you will be doing it again next month.
Where do my invoices come from?
Houzez generates them, and you style them under Theme Options, then Invoice Options: your logo, company name, address and thank you message.
Why is my customer getting two emails?
Because Houzez sends its own and so do we. Pick one set and switch the other off. Ours are under Mollie Payments, then Email management; Houzez’s are under Theme Options, then Email Management.
Technical
What do I need?
Houzez 4.0 or newer, WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 8.0 or newer, and an https website.
Will it slow my site down?
No. The plugin does its work in your admin and at the checkout, not on every page a visitor loads.
What about GDPR?
Transactions are kept for as long as you choose, under Options, then Data retention. The default expectation of EU tax law is sixty months, and that is what we suggest.
Completed transactions are removed automatically after that. Pending ones never are, because unfinished business should not be quietly thrown away.
Are my API keys safe?
They are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, they are only ever shown masked, they are never written to log files, and you can lock them so no other administrator can read them. There is a whole article on this under Security and system.
What happens if my license expires?
Your customers notice nothing. Your checkout keeps working, webhooks keep working, emails keep going out, and all your data is preserved.
You get 31 days of grace, and after that the plugin’s own admin pages lock and updates stop. Your payments do not.
