Understanding the transactions screen

Every payment your website has ever handled lives here. It is the first place to look when a customer asks a question, and the only place you need for refunds.

Where to find it

Go to Mollie Payments, then the Transactions tab.

The plugin describes it plainly at the top: search, filter and manage every Mollie payment. Click a row to view details, refund in full or in part, or cancel a recurring subscription.

What the table shows

Six columns.

Date. When the payment was made.

Customer. Who made it.

Type / Item. What they bought: a membership package, a property submission, or a featured listing.

Amount. What they paid.

Method. How they paid: iDEAL, card, PayPal, and so on.

Actions. What you can do with it.

Click any row to open the full details.

The statuses, and what they actually mean

You will see nine of them, and it is worth knowing the difference, because three of them look like failures and are not.

Paid. The money arrived. This is the one you want.

Pending. The payment has been started but not finished. Often this simply means the customer wandered off at the payment screen, which happens all the time. Sometimes it means your website has not heard back from Mollie yet.

Failed. The payment was attempted and rejected, usually by the customer’s bank.

Canceled. The customer changed their mind and cancelled at the payment screen.

Expired. The payment was started and never completed within the time allowed. Common with bank transfers.

Refunded. You gave the whole amount back.

Partial refund. You gave part of it back.

Charged back. The customer’s bank reversed the payment, after the money had already reached you. This has its own article, because it is different from a refund in an important way.

Partial chargeback. The same, for part of the amount.

A note on pending

Pending is not automatically a problem, and this is worth internalising before you go chasing one.

Most pending payments are simply people who did not finish. They opened the payment screen, thought better of it, and closed the tab. That is normal and there is nothing to fix.

Pending only means trouble when a customer tells you they paid and the payment is still sitting there. That is a webhook problem, and there is an article about it in Troubleshooting.
