The full list of supported methods

Thirty payment methods, grouped exactly as you will find them on the Payment methods tab.

The label after each one tells you whether it can carry a subscription.

Netherlands

iDEAL (Subscriptions)

The one that matters if you sell in the Netherlands. Nearly everyone uses it, and the fee is a low fixed amount, which makes it very cheap on larger payments.

Belgium

Bancontact (Subscriptions) KBC / CBC (Subscriptions) Belfius Pay Button (Subscriptions)

Bancontact is to Belgium what iDEAL is to the Netherlands. The other two are bank-specific buttons.

Germany and Austria

EPS (Subscriptions)

France

Cartes Bancaires (Subscriptions)

The French domestic card scheme. Worth adding if you sell into France, because many French cards run on it.

Italy

PostePay (Subscriptions) Satispay (One-time) MyBank (One-time) BANCOMAT Pay (One-time)

Spain and Portugal

Bizum (One-time) MB Way (One-time) Multibanco (One-time)

Poland

Przelewy24 (One-time) BLIK (One-time)

Switzerland

TWINT (One-time)

United Kingdom

BACS Direct Debit (Subscriptions) Pay by Bank (One-time)

Nordics

MobilePay (One-time) Swish (One-time) Vipps (One-time)

Denmark and Finland, Sweden, and Norway respectively.

Cards and wallets

Credit and debit card (Subscriptions) PayPal (Subscriptions) Apple Pay (Subscriptions) Google Pay (One-time)

Cards are your international safety net. If someone from a country you did not plan for lands on your checkout, a card is what they will use.

Note the difference between the two wallets: Apple Pay can carry a subscription, Google Pay cannot. That catches people out.

Bank transfers

SEPA Direct Debit (Subscriptions) Bank Transfer (One-time)

SEPA Direct Debit deserves special attention. Even if you never show it at your checkout, it has to be switched on in your Mollie account if you sell subscriptions, because it is what collects the renewals. There is a whole article on this.

Bank Transfer is a manual payment: your customer gets bank details and pays it themselves. It can take days to arrive, and it cannot renew.

Vouchers and gift cards

Gift Cards (One-time) Meal / Eco Vouchers (One-time) paysafecard (One-time)

Mostly relevant for retail. Unusual for estate agencies, but they are there if you want them.

About iDEAL and Wero

You may have heard that iDEAL is being replaced by Wero over the coming years.

That is true, and you do not have to do anything about it. Mollie is handling the transition, and iDEAL continues to work exactly as it does now in the meantime. When the change happens, it will happen on Mollie’s side, not yours.

We will keep the plugin up to date as it develops. That is what your license pays for.
