Apple Pay or Google Pay does not appear

These two are fussier than the rest, because Apple and Google both want proof that you own your website before they let anyone pay on it. That check is called domain verification.

The good news

Mollie handles nearly all of it for you. In most cases you do not have to do anything at all.

Work through these

Is it switched on at Mollie? Dashboard, Settings, Payment methods. Apple Pay and Google Pay each have to be enabled there.

Is it switched on in our plugin? The Payment methods tab.

Is your website on https? Apple Pay will not appear on a site without a valid SSL certificate. Look for the padlock.

Are you using the right browser? This is the one people miss. Apple Pay only appears in Safari, on an Apple device. It will never show up in Chrome on a Windows laptop, no matter how correctly you have set it up. Google Pay behaves similarly across browsers.

So test Apple Pay on an iPhone or a Mac using Safari. If you are testing in Chrome on Windows and wondering where it went, that is your answer.

Do you have a card set up on the device? Apple Pay does not appear if there is no card in the wallet.

If it still does not show

Your domain may need to be verified manually. Mollie’s Help Center has the current steps, and they change from time to time, so we point you there rather than repeat them here and let them go stale.

The plugin also has a plain-language guide on the Theme activation tab.

Or just message us, and we will walk through it with you.

A note on subscriptions

Apple Pay can carry a subscription. Google Pay cannot: it is one-time only.

So if you sell packages that renew, do not rely on Google Pay alone. Make sure at least one subscription-capable method is switched on.
