The switch itself takes ten seconds. The checks before it are the part that matters.
Before you switch
Your Mollie account is approved. Mollie reviews every new account before it may take real payments. Check the status in your Mollie dashboard. Until it says approved, live payments will not work, whatever you set in the plugin.
Your website is on https. Look for the padlock.
You have your live API key. It is a different key from your test key, in the same place: your Mollie dashboard, Developers, then API keys.
Your methods are actually active in live mode at Mollie. Some methods need to be requested and approved separately. Check that the ones you want are switched on and approved on your account, not just ticked in our plugin.
SEPA Direct Debit is on, if you sell subscriptions. Without it, no renewal will ever be collected.
Make the switch
In the plugin, open the API keys tab.
Paste your Live API key into its field.
Set Active mode to LIVE.
Click Save.
Click Test connection once more, so you know the live key works and not just the test one.
The badge at the top now reads LIVE. Real payments are being processed.
The one mistake that silently breaks everything
If the badge says LIVE, NO KEY, then live mode is selected but no live key has been entered.
Nothing can be paid. Your checkout will simply fail, and nothing on your website will explain why to your customer. They will assume you are broken, and they will leave.
We warn you about this specifically because it is the most expensive five seconds of inattention in the whole plugin. If you see it, go back and paste in your live key.
Buy something from yourself
Do one real payment. Your cheapest package, or a one euro payment link if you are on Business or Agency.
Yes, it costs you a transaction fee. Pay it. A test payment proves the plumbing works. A real payment proves the plumbing, the account approval and the live key all work at once, which is a different and much more useful thing to know.
Refund yourself afterwards from the Transactions tab. It takes two clicks.
Read the System tab once
The plugin’s System tab runs a set of checks on your setup and flags anything that needs attention.
Among other things, it compares the methods you have switched on in the plugin against the ones actually active in your Mollie account, and it tells you if another Houzez payment gateway is still running alongside Mollie.
It takes ten seconds to read, and it catches the things you would otherwise hear about from a customer who could not pay.
You are live
Payments come in. Packages activate themselves. Invoices go out. Renewals collect automatically. Your analytics fill up.
From here, take the rest at your own pace. Emails to make your messages sound like you wrote them. Analytics to see how you are doing. Payment links to get paid outside the website entirely.
