From nothing to a link you can send takes about a minute.
Where to start
Go to Mollie Payments, then Payment links, and use the Create a new payment link form.
The form fills in a Summary as you type, so you can see exactly what you are about to send.
Who is it for
Name and Email. This is who the request goes to.
Reference (optional). Your own note, for your own records. An invoice number, a property address, a job reference. Whatever will make sense to you in three months.
What are they paying for
Under Products and items you build the list.
Quick pick. If you sell the same thing regularly, save it once as a product with a name and a price, and pick it from the list every time after that. A viewing fee is the obvious example.
Items. Or type them in by hand. Each row has a description and a price, and you can add as many rows as you need.
Shipping (optional). There if you need it, which for an estate agency you usually will not.
When does it expire
Under VAT and expiry you choose how long the link stays valid.
No expiry. It works forever.
After 7 days, After 14 days, or After 30 days.
An expiry date is quietly useful. It creates a reason to act, and it stops a link you sent last spring being paid unexpectedly in the autumn.
What happens after you create it
Two options, under Options.
Email the link to the customer. The plugin sends the payment request straight away, with the button and the QR code in it. This is what you want most of the time.
Send to thank-you page after payment. Sends the customer to a page of your choosing once they have paid, rather than dropping them somewhere generic.
To use that second one you need to set a thank-you URL first, under Settings. The plugin reminds you of this on the screen.
Create it
Click Create and send payment link, or Create payment link if you would rather send it yourself.
You now get two things.
The payment link, with a Copy button. Paste it into an email, a WhatsApp message, or wherever your customer actually is.
A QR code, which you can Download or Copy.
The QR code is better than it sounds
It is easy to dismiss, and then you use it once and understand.
You are standing in a property with someone who wants to book a viewing, or pay a deposit, or take the premium listing you just talked them into. You show them your phone. They scan it. They pay, on the spot, while they are still enthusiastic.
Compare that with “I will email you an invoice”, which gives them a week to change their mind.
Where it goes
The link appears in your Recent payment links list.
Once it is paid, it appears in Transactions and in your Analytics, exactly like any other payment.
