Take five minutes to check these things now. It will save you an hour of confusion later, and it means your first payment will simply work.
A Houzez website
Our plugin is an add-on for the Houzez theme. Without Houzez, it has nothing to attach itself to.
You need Houzez 4.0 or newer.
How to check: in your WordPress admin, look at the left menu. Click Appearance, then Themes. Your active theme is the first card, and its name and version number are printed on it.
You also need two of the plugins that come with Houzez to be active: Houzez Theme Functionality and Houzez Login Register. They arrive in the same download as the theme. If they are not active, Houzez itself will not work properly, let alone ours.
How to check: go to Plugins in your left menu and look for them in the list.
WordPress 6.0 or newer, and PHP 8.1 or newer
Almost every modern host already meets this, so it is rarely a problem. But it is worth a look.
How to check: in your WordPress admin, go to Tools, then Site Health, and click the Info tab at the top of the page. Open the section called Server to see your PHP version, and the section called WordPress to see your WordPress version.
If PHP is older than 8.1, email your hosting provider and ask them to upgrade it. It takes them minutes, it is free, and it makes your entire website faster and safer.
A free Mollie account
Payments run through Mollie. Opening an account is free and there is no monthly fee. You pay a small fee per successful payment, and nothing else.
Three things are worth knowing before you start.
Mollie has to approve your account before you can take real money. They will ask a few questions about your business. It usually takes a day or two. You do not have to wait for it: you can install the plugin and test everything in the meantime.
You have to switch on the payment methods you want. In your Mollie dashboard this is under Settings, then Payment methods. A method that is off at Mollie can never appear at your checkout, no matter what you do in the plugin.
If you want to sell subscriptions, switch on SEPA Direct Debit at Mollie as well. This surprises people, so let us be clear about it. Even when your customer pays the first time with iDEAL, the automatic renewals afterwards are collected by direct debit. If SEPA Direct Debit is off at Mollie, renewals will silently not happen.
An https website
Mollie requires a secure connection for real payments.
How to check: look at your website address in the browser. It should start with https, and there should be a padlock next to it.
Nearly every host gives you this for free now. If you do not have it, ask them to switch it on.
Your license key
You receive it by email the moment you buy, and it is always waiting for you in your account on our website. You need it to activate the plugin and to receive updates.

What you do not need
You do not need WooCommerce. Our plugin plugs straight into the Houzez checkout. No webshop, no subscription extensions, no extra yearly fees.
You do not need a developer. A wizard walks you through the setup, and you will not see a line of code.
You do not need to touch your theme files. We work entirely through the hooks Houzez already provides, so a theme update will never break your payments.
