A new visitor tries to sign up and pay, and Houzez shows them the words “Access denied”. No explanation, no help.
They will assume your website is broken, and they will not try again.
What is happening
This message does not come from us. It comes from Houzez, and it means Houzez has refused to create the account.
There are exactly two settings that cause it, and both have to be on.
Fix 1: Let people register at all
In WordPress, go to Settings, then General.
Tick the box marked Anyone can register.
Save.
Fix 2: Switch on Houzez’s Register toggle
Go to Theme Options, then Login & Register.
Find the setting called Register, and switch it on.
Be careful with this one. Houzez describes it as “Display the register in the header”, which makes it sound like it only controls whether a link appears in your menu.
It does not. With this off, Houzez refuses every registration attempt, wherever it comes from. It is not cosmetic. Switch it on.
Also check
The Houzez Login Register plugin has to be active. It comes with the theme. Go to Plugins and make sure it is switched on.
You can also check this on our System tab, which lists the Houzez plugins it can find.
Test it properly
Open your website in a private or incognito browser window, so you are genuinely logged out, and try to sign up and pay as a new customer would.
Being logged in as an administrator hides this problem completely, which is why so many people only discover it when a real customer complains.
