If you sell to consumers in the EU, you may need to ask them to acknowledge their right of withdrawal before they pay. The plugin can add that checkbox to your checkout.
An honest note first
The plugin says this on the page, and we mean it.
This feature and the sample texts are a helpful starting point, not legal advice. You remain responsible for the legal accuracy of what you publish, and you should have the texts reviewed by a qualified specialist before relying on them.
We build payment software. We are not your lawyer, and we are not pretending to be.
What we can do is give you the mechanism, and make it easy to put your own approved text into it.
Switching it on
Go to Mollie Payments, then EU Consumer Compliance.
Switch on Enable EU consumer compliance. It is off by default.
A checkbox now appears on your checkout, which the buyer must tick.
The texts
Checkbox label. A short heading above or beside the checkbox.
Checkbox text. The consent line the buyer actually ticks.
There are two kinds of brackets, and they do different things.
Double brackets make a link. Write [[right of withdrawal]] and those words become the link that opens your terms.
Single brackets are placeholders for you to fill in. [COMPANY NAME] is a note to yourself, not something the plugin replaces. Replace it with your own company name before you go live.
Withdrawal terms. The full text shown in the popup.
How to show the terms
Two choices, and the plugin has an opinion.
In a popup. The terms open on top of the checkout. The buyer reads them and carries on paying, without going anywhere.
My own page. The terms are on a page of yours, and the link takes them there.
Choose the popup
The plugin recommends it plainly, and it is right.
A popup keeps the buyer on the checkout. They read, they close it, they pay. Friction stays low.
Your own page takes them away from the checkout. That extra step interrupts the order, and some of them do not come back. A customer who has just been sent to a different page to read a legal document is a customer who has been given a moment to reconsider, and you did not need to give them one.
If you do choose your own page, the Terms page URL field takes the full URL, and it opens in a new tab.
Do this properly
Get your withdrawal terms written or reviewed by someone qualified, then paste them in.
The sample text is there so you have something to work with, not so you can ship it unread.
